Strengths: Mr. Barton is a brilliant man. History is such an easy subject to be educated on, and it something that Mr. Barton has a passion for. With his knack for paying attention to detail, Barton is able to help his students out on a much deeper level than simply babbling on about the Battle of Hastings and throwing around quizzes. His friendly, good-natured attitude makes him very likable, amongst both students and colleagues. He is always willing to lend a hand, stay after class for hours to help a student understand something, work on random theories with other teachers, or even drop students off at home if they've missed their ride or stayed later. He is well trusted by the community, and is a very, very simple man outwardly.
At night, however, Mr. Barton spins a 180. He is powerful. Intelligent. And ever so cautious as he slowly peels away layers of skin from living, breathing human beings that he keeps in a secret area deep underneath his simplistic home. Although he is nearly 50, Mr. Barton still has a youthful strength about him, and now, with his newly founded abilities, his strength has increased, and his ways of torture and murder have brought in a new year for him, an exciting year with no limits and new possibilities.
Weaknesses: Emotionless, uncaring, empty, void of virtually all human feelings, and although some may consider it a strength, it is a terrible weakness that weighs heavily on occasion. Especially when there may in fact be some human in the beast, thanks to his adopted daughter. Age is also a weakness.
Brief Summary: Nathan is a delicate man. To his students, he is kind and generous, and yes, very much modeled after the lovely ol' Giles from Buffy. He is treated in the same regards, and often helps out his students on a deeper level than just books. To his enemies, however, he is vicious and cruel and unforgiving. Despite his tendencies, he does hold true to his morals, whether they are right or wrong in the eyes of modern society. His 'victims' are no victims at all. They are the murders, freed from prisons or other serial killers that are careless with their victims. He only kills those who have hurt others in drastic ways: rape, murder, abuse, etc. Nice guy, huh?
History
Family: Florence Albernathy (Mother, Deceased), Nathaniel Barton (Father, Deceased), 3 other siblings that reside in the Queen's land.
Brief Summary: Aric grew up in the soft, gentle hillside in England somewhere. The exact location is unimportant. What is important is that he had a loving mother and father, who adored all of their children as best they could, as equally as they could. Mr. Barton was a brickman, while Mrs. Barton ran a preschool for the small town that acted doubly as a daycare center. Aric Nathaniel, in the States, simply known as Nathan, grew up with everything that his older siblings had. And really, there was nothing special about the boy. He certainly wasn't as strong as the eldest brother of the house to take over the bricklaying business, nor as handy with a needle as his sister, but he did supply the family, and other families, with fresh meat during the occasionally rough economic times. He was a skilled marksman, hunter, and fisher, and would often be left alone for days or weeks at a time to venture the lands, alone, to gather food for his family. Little did the family know, they were actually fueling a diseased fire that was raging inside of Nathan. Little animals were always the first sign.. then larger ones.. Eventually, a few of the neighbors dogs would end up missing, though he was intelligent enough to keep himself and his secrets safe by supplying them with the occasional lone wolf he would trick into catching to prove that it was nothing more than a wild animal killing off not only pets, but sheep and cows...
High school was a trying time for Nathan. He scored marks extremely well, but was insanely bored with his peers and superiors. It was only by chance that his sister requested him to go to a party with her, saying that he needed to make more friends (though he was perfectly content with being alone and observing the functions of humans). And it was at this party that drinking and drugs became too much, and like many sociopaths, an event would trigger the beast within. He witnessed, amongst many other students that stood around in a circle, the rape of his sister by some of the seniors. No one stepped in to help her, no one cared that she was suffering or in pain, no one cared the event caused her to commit suicide two weeks later, since 30-some years ago, no one really spoke out of rape. But Nathan remembered. Sure, he did nothing to help the situation, but he was immune to its effects. He did understand that it was morally wrong though. And from that point on, his first victim, was the scum that had destroyed the life of his sister. Eye for an eye. Inhumane justice was how Nathan began operating, even throughout college.
Finishing college with a teaching degree in history, Nathan left the simple and safe life of England to seek out newer challenges with the Americans. It was there that he took up home in Bristol, and it was there that he continued on his justified killing while building quite a report with the town and school district he began teaching in. In fact, one of his students had had such an appeal to him because she was so broken, that he took it upon himself to take out her father and adopt the girl himself. He was not one to date or to find a woman to marry, no no. Celibacy was all right with him, as he had no desire for sex. But seeing a girl that reminded him so much of his sister, but at a much younger age... She tortured him, internally, because it felt as though there were feelings attached to her, though he made sure he was the greatest actor in being a father and role model to her while she grew up.
As for his abilities, well, lets just say when he discovered them, he found many ways to never leave a trail behind for the authorities. He found ways to kill people without even being involved. He could simply sit at the park and watch cars drive by, and he could then read in the newspapers and smile when the header reads: Woman killed, breaks failed. Metal.. never his favorite thing to touch, would prove to be his greatest ally for the rest of his life.
